Another great opportunity to be in the Cayman Islands. This time, I’m one of the film crew for the DOT (Department of Tourism) as a Director of Photography under the Beneficial Entertainment production with the Director, Ben Hudson.

This trip is the best one yet. I’m either working or being a tourist at the same time. With all the places we filmed, I cant choose which is the best part of the trip, simply because everything is amazing.

I really can’t describe my experiences down in the Caribbean. I am loss for words, my mind is at ease and I have my camera on my hand. Cayman Islands is amazing!
I would like to congratulate Galen and Neil on their special day. This was my first out of the country wedding shoot yet. The music was made by Ben Hud of Beneficial Entertainment. When I heard this song during Galen and Neil’s dance, I got this crazy chill bumps. And I thought, this is THE perfect song! I loved it!

Before I left for the island, I have been working on this music video for Chronic Vibe. It took me 6 weeks to complete the first chorus. The fact that I haven’t use After Effects for ages, I have given myself a deadline to finish the piece by Fall. Here’s a quick teaser.

Last week, Lin and I filmed a live acoustic music video for The Shrugs and they performed the song called, Sweet Redemption. The video was for the PEAK Performance Project 2011. They may be my favourite local band.

It’s not the same feeling as I’m using my own camera but I quite enjoyed how the pictures turned out.

Editing has been keeping me busy lately. Currently working on the Cayman Island videos under Sun Screen Videos; I’ve also edited segments for Local Anxiety‘s Ask Santa; Chronic Vibe and I are currently developing our next music video shoot. Busy, busy, busy and I am lovin’ it! Also, the music video we shot back in April is out now. Check it out! “Knew I Was Right”

Last weekend, I went home for my granny’s 80th birthday. My trip was short and sweet. It seems that my trips back home has been getting shorter and shorter. It’s not because I don’t like to be home. It just feels like I don’t have a purpose to stay longer besides spending time with my family. All of my friends have moved away and the Rockies still look the same.

October has been a hectic month. Lots of going on and lots of happening.
Two Indians Talking has been nominated for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film and Best Director at the American Indian Film Festival. I felt ecstatic and proud that this film has been getting a lot of buzz in festivals. I remember the times when Sara and I communicated through Skype to edit the film and we reminisced the production, she wished that it never wrapped. I agree with her. I enjoyed every single day being in the production and being on set was like being in a different world. I missed it.

By mid-October, my sister and I went to Las Vegas. She partied. I didn’t. Basically, I did nothing in Las Vegas. For me, it was a total relaxation to do nothing. My mind was shut and it was a complete recharging my battery. I gambled but just a little bit. I’m not really much of a gambler. We went to Red Canyon, took some pictures but the trip was mostly to visit my Aunt Lou who I haven’t seen for 24 years. It was great connecting with her although the trip was short but I’ve learned a little bit about my culture. I’ve always been wanting to learn more about my culture and the reason why I do things. I have yet to find the answers.

Sigur Ros

The first time I heard Sigur Rós was from the movie, Vanilla Sky, directed by Cameron Crowe. I fell in love with the band’s instrumental, melody and the voice. You can’t make out what he’s singing about but it definitely triggers your emotion. It’s just so uplifting (especially on a rainy day like this). I enjoyed mostly all of their albums. Actually, I love all of their albums.

I stumbled upon this video as I browsed thru YouTube. It’s just beautiful. Beautiful. A music video like this inspires me to do more videos. There’s so many things that inspires me on every video that I make but I can’t really hand pick what truly inspires me. Thus, they all came out unique in their own way.
